Our Prison Chaplain

Kyle Hebert

After serving a life sentence at the Angola State Penitentiary, where he preached, mentored, and served as Christian staff writer for The Angolite, Chaplain Hebert is now called to return to prisons to bring the good news of salvation for the full pardon of sins through Jesus Christ.

He disciples Livingston Parish prisoners using a variety of programs, including the Fair Program, Experiencing God, a Reformed modification of Celebrate Recovery, Victim Impact, Malachi Dads, and Inside-Out Dads. Additionally, he is heavily involved with the work release program for several local prisons. In between programs, he teaches these prisoners sound doctrine and how to interpret the Bible. Kyle regularly preaches at the Elyane Hunt Correctional Facility and at Angola.

He was licensed by Salem Baptist Church to preach in March 2025, having been recognized as a gifted brother in accordance with Scripture and Chapter 26, Paragraph 11 of our confession of faith. He preaches often at Salem and as a guest preacher at various churches around the country.

He received a BA from New Orleans Theological Seminary in Christian Ministry in 2007 and an MDiv in Biblical Language and Theology from Global University in 2015. Outside of the church, he works full-time as the shipping supervisor for Deltak Manufacturers in Walker, La. In his spare time, he watches LSU sports, rides horses, and exercises.
