Our Leadership

Our Pastor

Chad Chauvin

Pastor Chad has regularly taught and preached the Word of God since 2003, dating back to his military service when he preached in the Chaplain’s absence. He was ordained to the gospel ministry in 2013 while serving as associate pastor at Trinity Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In March 2023, he was called to Salem Baptist Church as interim pastor. In January 2024, he was called to be Salem’s senior pastor.

He received a BS from Louisiana State University in Electrical Engineering in 2003, an MDiv in Pastoral Studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2017, a ThM in Research Languages and a PhD in Expository Preaching at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2021. Additionally, he labors outside the church as an Operations Leader for the Dow Chemical Company where he is a charter member of LIGHT (Living in God’s Holy Truth), a grassroots Christian employee network. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional. He has published several Christian book reviews for Books at a Glance and serves on the Executive Board for the Eastern Louisiana Baptist Association.

Prior to his calling to the gospel ministry, Pastor Chad served in the Army National Guard, both as an enlisted soldier and as an officer. As an enlisted soldier, he was a part of the Signal Corps, graduating Advanced Individual Training in 1998 as the “Distinguished Honor Graduate.” As an officer, he deployed to Iraq in 2005 as Headquarters Company Executive Officer for the 1-155th Infantry Battalion of the Mississippi National Guard. Military honors include the Paratrooper (Airborne) Badge and the Meritorious Service Medal.

Pastor Chad has lived in Louisiana his entire life and has a strong desire to glorify God by making disciples of Jesus Christ in his native state. God has used his diverse background as a combat veteran and chemical plant worker to equip him with the ability to apply Scripture to real-life situations and engage unbelievers with the gospel. He and his wife Amy have four children. During his free time, he loves fishing, sports, crawfish boils, and spending time with family.
